Is it a spacer for when you might install a Model A crank into a Model T? Some times the spacer is there to make clearance for the rods with the longer throw of the Model A crank. Also there would be a plate underneath the rods with the 4 dips in it that the rods dip into. I would not get rid of that plate because it changes how well the rods get lubricated. On a lot of cars with the deep sump oil pan. The deep sump is installed over the stock plate and the stock plate has holes drilled in it to allow oil to drain to the sump. If you do that do not drill the holes in the dip though. You can drill the holes in between the dips. Then you just have to work out a system on how the oil get out of the sump. Most of the time this is when people install a oil pump.
