ADJUSTABLE Modern Drive Shaft Pinion Bearing Assembly,  Installs in minutes - no machining required. You supply your 1921-1927 open spool drive shaft bearing housing. These assembly is similar to the 2587PB2 kit, however, this kit also includes a full shim set that allows an easy yet precise control of ring and pinion gear mesh of 0.0005"! 
This replaces part #2587 drive shaft bearing, 2589 drive shaft ball race, and 2596 drive shaft inner sleeve with modern bearings listed below.

  • Sealed upper bearing prevents drive shaft housing debris from entering pinion bearing or differential gear.

Questions and Answers
Does this adjustable bearing system adjust for front to back positioning of the pinion? Also does it allow left to right positioning for backlash setting without using ring gear shims?
 It only moves the drive shaft front and back, it will not move left or right. Because the gears are cut at the angle you can take care of the clearance some with just going front to back but if you go too far the gear teeth could be misaligned too much and wear uneven.
